QNattyNet at the Workshop on Quantum Networking: Experiments, Simulation, and Standards for Scalable Infrastructure

The Quantum Internet Research Group at the University of Naples Federico II will participate in the workshop Quantum Networking: Experiments, Simulation, and Standards for Scalable Infrastructure, held as part of IEEE Quantum Week 2026 (QCE26).

As quantum networking moves from laboratory demonstrations towards early deployment, the development of reliable and scalable infrastructure requires progress across multiple interconnected dimensions. From experimental platforms and enabling technologies to simulation, interoperability, and standardization, addressing these challenges is essential to transform proof-of-principle systems into deployable quantum networks.

The workshop brings together these complementary perspectives, exploring how advances in experiments, computational tools, and standards development can jointly accelerate the path towards robust quantum networking infrastructure.

Prof. Angela Sara Cacciapuoti will take part as an Invited Speaker with the talk:

“Quantum Networking: From Cutting-Edge Research towards Standardization”

Her talk will explore how cutting-edge research can progressively inform the transition towards standardization, while avoiding the premature freezing of architectural choices. The discussion will address the importance of developing shared frameworks, interfaces, and approaches capable of supporting interoperability without constraining the continued evolution of quantum networking technologies.

Angela Sara Cacciapuoti is Full Professor of Quantum Communications and Networks at the University of Naples Federico II, co-founder of the Quantum Internet Research Group, and Principal Investigator of the ERC Consolidator Grant QNattyNet, which aims to lay the foundations for a quantum-native Internet. Her research spans theoretical foundations, network architectures, simulation tools, and the broader challenges involved in the evolution of quantum networking technologies.

Through this contribution, the Quantum Internet Research Group will bring its perspective to one of the key questions facing the field: how to translate rapidly evolving research advances into the shared foundations needed for scalable and interoperable quantum networks.
