The Quantum Internet Research Group at the University of Naples Federico II will take part in the 3rd Workshop on Quantum Network Simulations, taking place on Monday, September 14, in conjunction with IEEE Quantum Week 2026 (QCE26).
The one-day workshop will bring together researchers working on quantum network simulation to explore the current landscape of simulation techniques used for both academic research and education. It will provide an opportunity to exchange state-of-the-art results, discuss emerging approaches, and reflect on future directions for the quantum networking simulation community.
During the workshop, Prof. Angela Sara Cacciapuoti will give the talk:
“Q2NS: An Extensible ns-3 Framework for Quantum-Network Simulation”
The presentation will introduce Q2NS, an extensible ns-3-based framework designed for quantum-network simulation. Q2NS combines classical-quantum co-simulation with dedicated quantum-network primitives and selectable state representations, including state-vector, density-matrix, and stabilizer backends.
The talk will explore the framework’s design principles and capabilities, as well as Q2NSViz, a Python-based visualization tool that transforms simulation traces into time-stepped visual representations, supporting the analysis and interpretation of quantum network simulations.
Angela Sara Cacciapuoti is Full Professor of Quantum Communications and Networks at the University of Naples Federico II, co-founder of the Quantum Internet Research Group, and Principal Investigator of the ERC Consolidator Grant QNattyNet. Her research spans theoretical foundations, network architectures, and simulation tools for quantum networking.
We look forward to contributing to the discussion on the future of quantum network simulation and to connecting with the international research community at QCE26.
